Food Subscriptions, is it worth it?

Many people year by year have been resorting to buying fast food rather than just cooking their meals at home, reasons being that it saves up more time and money than it takes to prepare the meal. It may look that way with some of the value meals they offer, may as well save you some extra money with their special offers or combos but it’s not always the safest bet. Although this may seem that way it’s not always a healthier alternative. Many fast food items contain high sodium content along with saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol which may lead to many heart and weight gain. Consider making home cooked meals once in a while and that will surely lessen those chances. But what if you don’t know how to cook? Or if you know what to cook? While most people are puzzled about what to do, some consider watching videos in Youtube while others try applying for meal subscription boxes.

Food subscriptions or meal subscriptions deliver boxes of fresh, pre-portioned ingredients and chef-created recipes to your doorstep. Some try and apply for these subscription boxes in spite of saving a little more and not waste ingredients, but is it worth buying?

First off, subscription boxes are customizable, depending on the number of people eating, food boxes can vary from 1 to 4 serving sizes per meal. Individuals can apply for daily, weekly and even monthly subscriptions and for how many meals they will be cooking for in a day. The kind of meal you plan on cooking, if you have different food preferences or if you have certain food allergies some subscription boxes will adjust and customize the box for your preferences.

Compared to supermarket prices, a selected number of subscription boxes offer prices less than or identical to grocery store prices making some of them worth the buy. As you get more comfortable in the kitchen and with planning your meals, you can wean yourself off the subscription box and focus more on planning your grocery list and meals from scratch.
