Rica’s Arabian Nights

5. Lugaimat

Backstory: Ever since Grade 7 our class would hold a small party/potluck after every exam or mid-term tests, each of us in the classroom would bring food, utensils, or drinks this started in Grade 7 and one of my classmates brought these things and when one of us non-arabs tasted it we asked the arabs what it’s called they said ghemat (Pronounced as : GHEY-MAT) and then all of us, non-arabs, start finishing up all of it. But if you look it up online as Ghemat nothing comes up, it comes up under the name Luqaimat.

This are sweet golden balls of deliciousness!  Especially when they are freshly cooked! When you bite into them, there’s a bit of a crunch then then inside is pure goodness that’s so soft but not gooey, then the sauce it can be honey or a golden syrup the Arabs made themselves (I didn’t ask how they made it)  and this sauce is what adds the t sweetness to these precious little balls of pure goodness. The sauce and the dough balls complement each other, alone the dough balls are good but with the sauce they are simply amazing. Then sometimes they add White sesame seeds to top it and that adds a nutty flavor that makes this dessert oh so delicious.

Plus it’s really photogenic. No matter what angle.
